D-Link Unveils DES-7200 Chassis-Based Switch

DES-7200 is first of D-Link’s core network switches to be deployed in UK school

London, UK – 19th January 2010 – D-Link has unveiled its new DES-7200 multi-layer modular switch system, following a successful maiden deployment at the Charles Darwin School in Kent.

The DES-7200 is a next generation chassis-based switch which is ideally suited to the needs of larger campus locations, providing core to edge of network coverage and zero network downtime for critical applications. At BETT 2010, D-Link demonstrated how schools and LAs can achieve high levels of network performance, security and control at an affordable price.

Featuring a flexible modular architecture and industry standard compliance, this core switch provides scalable expansion and a high level of investment protection for schools to deploy Gigabit and 10-Gigabit packet switching and routing for powerful classroom networking.

The Charles Darwin School has praised the high performance, support and eco-efficiency delivered by the new DES-7200 core switch. The Secondary school has dramatically improved network access for students and staff after a swift four-day installation of D-Link’s new backbone infrastructure.

"We are delighted to be introducing this new chassis-based switch in the UK after a number of successful deployments globally", said Andrew Mulholland, Marketing Manager for D-Link UK. The successful deployment at Charles Darwin clearly highlights the performance and functionality benefits that the DES-7200 brings to the education sector.”
